Trekking :- The most popular trekking route in Chopta is trek to Chandrashila Peak. This trek is around 9 km in which you can see stunning views and also a Sacred temple dedicated to Lord Shiva that is “Tungnath Temple” which is the Highest Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The trek is best between the months of December and January in which the whole trek is covered with snow all around.
Cycling :- Taking to the mountain roads in and around Chopta on a motored bike or a cycle is a must-try. The roads are smooth and surrounded by rolling green meadows and offer views of snow-capped peaks. There are cycling events organised here as well. Chopta to Ukhimath via Sari village, a distance of 30 km, is a popular cycling route.

Kanchula Korak Musk Deer Sanctuary :- Located around 7 km from Chopta is the Kanchula Korak Musk Deer Sanctuary, a dense forest spread over 6 sq km, where the rare musk deer can be spotted. It makes for a relaxing nature walk.
Tungnath Temple.  Route to Chopta to Chandrashila Trek is the highest located Lord Shiva Temple.
ChandraShila Peak :- At 4,000m, the Chandrashila peak is the summit of the Chandranath Parvat on which the Tungnath temple is located. Chandrashila (literally meaning moon rock), the majestic peak offers a stunning panoramic view of the Himalayas. It’s a popular trekking route and it is a challenging 5-km trek.
ChandraShila Temple :- Chandrashila is a 4,000 m high peak with a small stone temple dedicated to Goddess Ganga. It offers amazing views of peaks like Nanda Devi and Chaukhamba. According to legends, Lord Rama meditated here and the Moon god did penance. ‘Chandrashila’ means ‘moon rock’. The 1.5 km steep trek starts from Tungnath temple, which is 3.5 km from Chopta.
Deoriatal :- Around 50 km from Chopta, this beautiful high-altitude lake (around 2,438 m) sitting amidst mountains and forests makes for a refreshing trek.
Ukhimath :- Located around 45 km from Chopta, Ukhimath is the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath. There are several other well-known temples here like the ones of Usha and Aniruddha.
